The World of Weirth is a setting much like a Hyborian Age, with danger at every turn, Swords & Sorcery magic, demons and mad prophets.
Tribes Of Gnolls And Nomads roam the savanna, while peasants and hedge wizards hide behind the walls of even the meanest thorp. A powerful Ley Line crosses the land, creating transient Gateways to the Faerie Realm.
Meanwhile the influence of Demons And the Belowdark waxes, threatening to cover the world in darkness, a suffocating nightmare that wells up from horror-filled dungeons underground.

Episode 29: The Jade Chamber
Today’s Date: 31 Zazel
Time to go. Shavanoxil, Adora, Kosas and Shakerica carry the re-packed chests out of the dungeon, up the stairs (wow! Hard work +1 Fatigue) and onto the surface. They load them in the boat and row back to the compound. Dimble and Shadoravan sleep peacefully. The wound on Shadoravan’s leg has “dried up”, looking a bit like smoked meat.
As the sun goes down the temperature drops considerably, so they build up the fire. The night is fairly uneventful, though around midnight a flock of bats swoop through the compound, clicking and being creepy.
In the morning of the next day, 32 Zazel, the white, puffy clouds seem to make a flower in the sky, the symbol of Ekalwyn, which the group takes to be a good omen. Aziagos cleans and checks the armor taken from the leader of the men and Mipokop. It is a charcoal grey metal, lighter than iron would be, of fine manufacture. The rings, though, have little burrs, or barbs, on them, making them smooth and slippery if rubbed in one direction, but will cut your skin if rubbed the other way.
Return to the Catacombs
The 6 healthy party members go back to the dungeon after breakfast (after Orgona discovers that a half-day’s rations were spoiled with ants!).
They follow a passage they had not yet explored, discovering a shrine with a fat man, sitting cross-legged in a basin, with his cupped hands in front of him. Lieres checks it out and determines the arms are a lever, and sure enough, when lifted up reveal a secret passage.
Down a short tunnel and around a corner, the gray stonework suddenly changes to a dark green jade. At the end of the tunnel is a lighter green jade archway, the stones carved with intricate decorations, with nothing but inky blackness beyond. Aziagos is very unsettled by this. He ties a rope to his hammer and tosses it through the archway. It goes quite a ways, then pulls the rope about 20 feet, clanging against stone a couple of times. Aziagos figures it went down a pit or staircase.
Lieres volunteers to scout ahead. They pull back the hammer, and tie the rope around Lieres’ waist. Lieres crawls on hands and knees along the floor, across the transition from gray to green stone. He feels a lurch, as he crosses, that feels like it pulls him onto the green part of the floor.
As soon as he crosses the demarcation, he can see into the arch!
The Jade Arch and Root Chamber
On the other side is a dimly-lit round chamber with a large tap-root hanging down from the ceiling. The circular chamber goes up into darkness, and down about 20 feet. At the bottom are leaves, cypress needles and more roots. Nestled in the roots is the body of a soldier in iron armor of an unusual design. It is extremely fine and articulated, forming gloves for his hands and individual pieces to cover his entire body. In one hand he holds a simple woodsman’s axe. His other hand is wrapped around a root that looks like a woman.
The stones of the round chamber are sharp and finely cut, with not even a knife’s edge between them. Incredible workmanship.
They re-tie the rope to a spike and Adora goes down in the pit to investigate. She walks around the root, while Aziagos climbs down as well. The slippery wall surface is a little tricky, as is the root-covered floor. Adora trips and comes “face-to-face” with the root that looks like a woman. Its eyes open, inky black pools of darkness, and it lifts its head to look at Adora. Its mouth opens and moves, as if to speak, but there is no sound.
Adora gets up and she and Aziagos decide to leave. As Az is climbing the rope, Adora decides to CAREFULLY slide the ax out of the dead soldier’s grasp. She pulls it without even making a noise.
She stuffs the axe in her pack, then begins to climb the rope. It breaks, right where the rope goes over the sharp, square edge of the pit. She falls into the loam, but hits her head on the “thigh” of the root woman, and is knocked unconscious.
Aziagos climbs down, with precautions against cutting the rope on the stone again, and retrieves Adora.
The party re-groups on the gray stone portion of the hallway, to wake Adora and figure out what is the next step…
In a few minutes Adora wakes, a bit groggy and with a goose-egg on her head, but otherwise okay.
LFG Playtest Campaign 1 - The Shadow of Evil Chaos is an experiment with a new (to me) game system, Low Fantasy Gaming, and a new magic hack designed to bring the atmosphere of danger from the pulp novels of Swords & Sorcery. We are playing fully online over a Discord Voice server, using some home-brew maps, art and characters designed on the HeroForge 3D printing site.
