Session Recap – World of Weirth – LFG Campaign Episode 48

Tribes Of Mipokop And Nomads roam the savanna, while peasants and hedge wizards hide behind the walls of even the meanest thorp. A powerful Ley Line crosses the land, creating transient Gateways to the Faerie Realm.

Meanwhile the influence of Demons And the Belowdark waxes, threatening to cover the world in darkness, a suffocating nightmare that wells up from horror-filled dungeons underground.

32 Hielik – ?, The Nurdiyan Grove

The party traveled by the most insane methods, arriving in Zan’s Forge after the devastation of the Dragon. 

You arrive in Zan’s Forge, dismayed by the wrack and ruin. You have the distinct feeling you are being watched, and as you move through the town you believe you hear footsteps crunching in the ash and char of the burned out buildings.

You make your way quickly to the “fire line” near the Nurdiyan Grove, and Kosas leads you in. You are immediately stopped by several guards dressed in green and brown leather armor, bearing leaf-bladed spears.

After a brief exchange with Kosas, they lead you into the Grove, to a small clearing, where they tell you to rest and wait, giving you cool water to drink.

 

After some time, it is hard to tell, as the sun does not seem to move while you sit in the grassy sward, a Xythian woman in pale green robes enters the clearing. She is bearing a staff with a human skull atop, bound with leather cords and decorated with feathers and palm fronds. She welcomes you in peace, in the name of Ekalwyn, and urges you to forswear any thoughts or memories of violence, so that you may heal. She tells you she can discern the effects of fell corruption upon you, and that you will need to be kept away from others for a time. 

She raises her staff and speaks some words in a harsh language, and a hut of vines and branches arises from the grass nearby. she instructs you to shelter in this sward until she returns for you. Food and drink and fresh clothing will be made available.

After she leaves, two young men in pale yellow-green togas enter with baskets of food, jugs of mead, and fresh, soft towels. Before they depart, one of them tells you to eat and drink you fill, they will return shortly to bring you to a pool to bathe. After they leave the clearing, you feel a mild lurch to the side, and the sun moves across the sky in a blur, down toward the horizon, turning the sky pink and purple. Air feels electric and smells of ozone.

Team A(Kossas, Shavanoxil, Aziagos) Kossas wants to try and find any information from the Nurduiyan’s he can. Him and Shavanoxil would like to seek any info on what kind of fell corruption and if there will be any lingering affects AND if there is anyway to protect ourselves from in in the future. Maybe something the Nurdiyan have or can help her make/get that would lessen the corrupting influence in the future. She also wants to get permission/help from the Nurdiyan to get some holy water and ingredients for treatments/Tibane brews. Kossas is also wanting to find a trainer ASAP.

Training for Kossas will take 9 days and cost 3,000 SP. (this will take until approx 8 Arkelos)

Kalder would love to engage in religious service to cleanse corruption… But we hardly have time for a month of cleansing. Is there a way to purge  more than a point per week?

Lieres will ask about his ears again, but if nothing can be done, he will otherwise offer to scavenge, scout, and possibly deal with Skarn spies.

TEAM A Downtime 33 Hielik (probably), “Evening”

After you have eaten, the two young men in pale yellow-green togas return, instructing you to follow them to the bathing pool, where you can cleanse your bodies, inside and out. They instruct you to enter the pool, (there are wooden steps leading down into it) and immerse yourselves completely, open your eyes and your mouths and take a deep drink of the healing waters. The taller of the two speaks gently, but firmly, “When you begin to experience goose-flesh, please exit the pool and return with us to your place of repose.”

The water of the pool is warm, but comfortable, and you are able to float peacefully, even if you do not know how to swim, as though a gentle hand is supporting you. When you dunk your head and open your eyes it feels as though sleep-sands are being wiped away, gently.

When you open your mouth to drink of the water, it seems to tingle and tickle your lips, mouth and gullet. It seems as though you are even able to inhale the water into your lungs, but you feel no urge to cough or choke.

Too soon, it seems, your skin begins to tingle and shiver, the tiny hairs on your arms and legs standing on end, gooseflesh from head to toe!

 

Exiting the pool as instructed, you feel the warm water running out of your hair, ears and nose. Your bandages have begun to disintegrate and your wounds are covered with a thick gooey film.

You all feel wonderfully relaxed and free of aches and pains, though dog-tired and your eyes are heavy-lidded. The two youths have fresh, dry, dark green linen togas for you to wrap yourselves in. They are soft and warm in the slight chill of the evening air.

They lead your group back to the clearing and it seems to take much longer than the trip to the pool. You are not sure if you remember all of these twists and turns in the path. It may simply be because you are so very tired. Once more in the clearing, you see all of the remains of your meal and dirty clothing have been taken away. Your other equipment looks to have been cleaned and oiled or cared for as necessary. 

Aeneas sees the black trident has been wrapped in a saffron yellow cloth, bound with green cords that at first look black.

The young men wish you a good night in a very formal fashion, and leave you, disappearing on the trail.

 

Each of you find a comfortable spot and lie down to sleep, falling asleep almost instantly. At some point in the night a young Telantean man dressed in a pale green toga comes to you. He wears a circlet of gold about his forehead and a wreath of Hellebore and Peony flowers on the crown of his head. He speaks gentle, soothing words, and gives you a draught of a warm, bitter-tasting (cinchona-like ) liquid that makes you feel warm and comfortable and safe.

During your sleep you have a very vivid dream of walking across a desert-like landscape at night. The ground is a very coarse sand, slippery to walk on, especially uphill. You are walking towards a city made of crystal, as a pilgrim? You see many others approaching from all directions, and a strange boat, floating and sailing in the sky. When you reach the city, you see the enormous crystals are insubstantial, some sort of vision or illusion, you can walk right thru them, when you do…

LFG Playtest Campaign 1 - The Shadow of Evil Chaos is an experiment with a new (to me) game system, Low Fantasy Gaming, and a new magic hack designed to bring the atmosphere of danger from the pulp novels of Swords & Sorcery.
